Music Ministry

hb2.jpg

Northminster has a very active music ministry under the direction of Nathan and Shari Crabtree.
  • Most visible (and audible!) is the Chancel Choir that leads music in the 11:00 worship service each Sunday.  They rehearse on Wednesday evenings from 6:45-8:00.  (There are no Wednesday night rehearsals from June-August.  Instead, we rehearse on Sunday mornings before worship.)
  • The Adult/Senior High Handbell Choir rehearses on Wednesday nights at 8:00.  The handbells usually play in worship at least once a month.
  • 6th-8th grade Handbell Choir meets from 5:00-5:30 on Sunday afternoons just after 68er Youth Fellowship. All are welcome, especially graduates of Kids Club!
  • In 2006-07 we started a Youth Ensemble.  This group is designed to sing, play instruments (including African percussion, guitar and band instruments), act, and possibly liturgically dance.  This group rehearses on Sunday afternoons at 5:30 and is for 6th - 12th grades.
  • On Wednesdays at 5:00 pm we have Kids’ Club.  This program is broken into two components:  Recreation/Devotion and Music.  It is designed for children Kindergarten - 5th grades.  The K - 2's sing and learn to play Orff percussion instruments.  The 3 - 5's sing and ring hand chimes.  Both groups sing and/or ring in worship on a regular basis throughout the school year.

As you can see, we have a very active music program.  This would not be possible without the dedication of the folks who come to rehearsals and worship services each week.  Won't you consider how you can share your gifts and talents with our church family?  For more information feel free to call the Crabtrees at 828-441-2092 or e-mail us at mail@crabtreestudios.com.
Peace & harmony,
Nathan & Shari
