Presbyterian Women

Purpose:
Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves:
- To nurture our faith through prayer and Bible study;
- To support the mission of the church worldwide;
- To work for justice and peace;
- To build an inclusive, caring community of women that strengthens the
- Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and witnesses to the promise of God's kingdom.
Membership in Presbyterian Women is open to all women in the church who choose to participate or be supportive
of the organization in any way. New members and visitors are welcome to participate in either of the Circles.
Presbyterian Women at Northminster meet monthly for Bible study. Circle #1 (Mary King Spainhour and Archie
Hassell Circle) meets each second Tuesday morning at 11:00 A.M. at the church. Circle #2 (Vicki Dease Circle) meets the
second Monday evening of each month at 7:30 P.M. in the homes of circle members.
The Bible study this year is the Gospel of John. This Gospel contains some of the most beloved passages
in the New Testament. For that reason, many people often cite it as their favorite among the Gospels. This study
provides an opportunity for a deeper understanding of the unique perspective offered by this Gospel on the life and messages
of Jesus Christ.
Opportunities for service include: Cooperative Christian Ministry food pantry; provide meals for deaths,
births, hospital returns, other special needs; honor high school and college graduates; care packages for college students;
annual Presbyterian Women Birthday Offering; and special projects for global or community mission.
Presbyterian Women gives strong support to the mission of the PC(USA) and determines its own leadership, program,
and budget.
Circle Chairpersons: Mary King Spainhour and Archie Hassell Circle (Lucy Davis) and Sarah Keller Circle
(Beth Merrill).

Wise Guys

The "Wise Guys" are actually guys and gals who are enjoying life past the age of 55. They gather for games,
parties, and outings to celebrate being our senior members who are young at heart. Wise Guys is for anyone, married or single,
who would enjoy interesting activities with a congenial group of people. If you are 55 or over and think you would be interested,
please let us know by calling one of the officers (Anne Spivey, Carole Huffman, Jane Lloyd, and Juanita Clark) or the church
office. We are also eagerly soliciting any ideas you may have for future outings, projects or meetings.
